When surveyed, 15 out of 94 teachers said that they have done some sort of environmental education professional development. That is 16% percent of teachers at DHHS.
Baltimore Ecosystem StudyThe Baltimore Ecosystem Study (BES) conducts research on metropolitan Baltimore as an ecological system. The program integrates biological, physical, and social sciences and focuses on integrating environmental themes into lesson plans. Three digital harbor staff members, Jaspreet Pannu, Stephanie Davis and Aubrey Melton participated in this workshop this past summer. To see a contact list for this workshop, click below.

BICO
Baltimore Inspiring Connections Outdoors was founded in 1999 with the goal of providing under-served Baltimore City youth with educational, enjoyable, and safe outdoor experiences at no cost to them. Two staff members from Digital Harbor Harbor (Nicole Veltre and Karyn Weeks) participated in the professional development associated with becoming a certified leader. MELP
Maryland Environmental Literacy Partnership The Partnership is creating robust curriculum resources and providing teacher professional learning and support to meet Maryland Environmental Literacy Standard 1 (environmental issues investigation and student action), as well as content standards in science and social studies. District PD Other Professional Development
Baltimore City Public Schools runs professional development for Environmental Science teachers geared towards sharing and implementing hands on, technology based Environmental Science Lessons. Two DHHS teachers Mr. Aklog and Ms, Beasley attended district PD earlier this school year. Click below to view an email documenting this professional development.

A variety of other environmental professional development has been attended by DHHS teachers. Mr. Greaver took a graduate course called Chesapeake Classrooms. Mr. Morgan attended a PD at the Maryland Science Center called "Butterflies and the Sun". Ms. Sheridan attended a PD through the Audubon society and Ms. Gluth took a graduate class through Johns Hopkins University about food and politics.
