Classroom and Professional Development
2015-2016 Green School Application Survey for DHHS Staff: This was a survey for the entire staff asking them what environmental practices we did in the school already, and what professional professional development they did over the summer. This included responsible transportation questions for the staff as well.

The following are duties of DHHS Green Leaders:
- Inform all students and staff up to four times per year of your role via newsletter, email, posters, morning or afternoon announcements, etc.
- We address this by having a section in the daily bulletin (upcoming).
- A presentation about our green schools initiative at the January 2016 faculty meeting.
- Email to all staff informing them about the results of the survey given at the green schools initiative faculty meeting presentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate at least two community meetings or workshops per year to share opportunities for school greening with students, staff and community members, with at least 10 participants each
- We address this by having garden build days where staff, students and community members can work in the DHHS garden.
- Meet with principal and/or assistant principal at least twice per year to review sustainability and greening strategies or plans
- Meeting with Ms. Mobley (principal) on 11/24/15 to discuss our green schools application progress, school wide greening initiatives and the potential for a school wide professional development.
- Meeting with Dr. Bowden (vice principal) on 4/29/16 to discuss administrative approval of bike racks for DHHS. The administrative team is reviewing the proposal after hearing back from the BCPSS legal department about school liability.
- Share information and resources provided by City Schools’ Green School Coordinator, the Baltimore Office of Sustainability and other local, state or national entities with school community.
-
- Answer questions for students, teachers and staff, e.g. what items are recyclable, provide referrals for student outdoor lab experiences, identify possible project resources.
